Haunted by the present , She looks to the past – A short film by Emmaalouise Smith

Haunted by the present, she looks to the past is the third film in a trilogy of personalized audio visual experimentation from UK film-maker Emmaalouise Smith.

Shot on a mix medium palette, the film’s colourful mise-en-scene is presented with both super 8 and 16mm hand crafted film stock. As well as every sound being recorded entirely unsync, creating a similar viewing experience from previous films, including; The Midnight Pen-pal (Best Experimental Short nominee at The London Short Film Fest 2011), and “Who would have guessed?” 2010.

The narration was written to depict a nightmare state of mind, and told to manipulate and distort what the viewer sees and hears on screen.
